Bangladesh were bowled-out for their lowest total in One Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies, in a Group B encounter of the ICC World Cup 2011, played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. The crowd at the stadium was expecting a big total from their national team. However, they were disappointed with the result, as Bangladesh were all-out for just 58 runs in 18.5 overs.
The pitch didn’t have a lot of assistance for the bowlers in it, but the Bangladeshi batsmen threw away their wickets by playing some rash shots. The innings was started by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640 and Imrul Keyes, but the pair was below par in today’s match. Tamim was
the first man to be dismissed without troubling the scorers.
His wicket was followed by his opening partner Keyes, who managed only five runs from 8 balls. This brought together the promising http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 at the crease. However, Rahim wasn’t able to open his account, and
he had to take the long walk back to the pavilion.
Junaid looked threatening, as he played some fluent strokes for his 25 runs off 27 balls. He would have liked to get a big score for his team, but he failed to capitalise on the start he got. The trend continued, as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.
Bangladesh Captain Shakib-Al-Hasan was undone on eight whereas; Raqibul Hasan scored four before being dismissed.
Veteran Mohammad Ashraful managed to reach double figures, but he was also dismissed after adding just 11 runs to the total. He was only the second player, apart from Junaid, to reach double figures in the Bangladeshi innings.
The last three wickets to fall were http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rubel-Hossain-c2378, who got out for 1, 0 and 0 respectively.
Only three bowlers were used by the Windies, but they were more than enough for the hosts. Sulieman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Benn-c47745 was the pick of the bowlers, as he took four wickets in the match. He also got good support from Kemar Roach and Darren Sammy, who grabbed three wickets
each.
