Bangladesh coach Stuart Law scared to tour Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Although the Bangladesh Cricket Board has confirmed to send its team to Pakistan on a short tour later this month, the Bangladesh cricket coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Grant-Law-c91460, is still reluctant to tour the terrorism stricken country that has not hosted
an international match over the past three years.
International teams shunned Pakistan after on-tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 cricket team was attacked by militants in provincial capital Lahore, in March 2009, killing eight people and leaving seven Sri Lankan players, including their assistant
coach, injured.
In a bid to bring international cricket back to Pakistan, BCB announced to send its team to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 for a One Day International and a T20 International at the end of this month. Both the matches will be hosted by the Gaddafi Stadium,
Lahore on April 29 and 30 respectively.
Bangladesh will be the first Test playing nation to tour Pakistan since the 2009 attacks. The Bangladesh cricket coach revealed that the players are a bit concerned insisting that both BCB and PCB should ensure the safety of players
as well as support staff ahead of the tour.
"It's got to be made sure by the two associating boards that everyone is 100 percent safe to go," the Australian was quoted as saying by a local newspaper.
"I cannot speak on behalf of the players. I have spent time with the players and everyone is a bit concerned. Not just Bangladesh, but the other teams as well. The first initial response from the players around the world is: 'I don't
want to go," he added further.
The Australian did not confirm when asked if he would be going on the tour. Meanwhile Law, who had yesterday announced resignation from the national coaching role with BCB, has agreed to join Cricket Australia's Centre of Excellence
(COE) in a parallel role.
"The opportunity to return home to be closer with family and work in Brisbane with Australia's established and emerging talent was too good to pass up," Law was quoted as saying in a Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 statement on Tuesday.
Law thanked the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 board and players for their support during his stay in Bangladesh.
