In a bid to provide their players maximum exposure to the shortest format of the game ahead of September’s World T20 Championship, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked its Ireland counterparts to change their July’s ODI tour of United
Kingdom into a T20 series.
The Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to tour UK in July this year, where they will play Ireland in three One Day Internationals before playing one against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 each. But now, the Bangladesh board wants all those
five One Day International games to be converted into T20 Internationals so that the Bengali tigers can have enough practice before the big show, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in September this year.
"The board has requested Cricket Ireland to rearrange the fixture for Bangladesh's tour of United Kingdom," confirmed the Bangladesh Cricket Board in an official release on Thursday. "The BCB has proposed playing five T20 Internationals
instead of five ODIs, keeping in mind preparation for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in September," the release read further.
Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 had last month filed an application with the apex cricketing body, International Cricket Council, to allow them to compete in 12 to 15 One Day Internationals every year so that the associate side could improve its ODI ratings
and target Test cricket. The Ireland cricket board was also eager to include a four-day game in the home series against Bangladesh but lack of funds did not allow them to arrange one.

The fourth edition of the World T20 championship kicks off in Hambantota with a match between hosts Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe on September 18 and will run till October 7. A total of 12 teams will be competing in the tournament. The teams
have been divided into four groups. Bangladesh has been drafted in Group D, which also contains http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754. The Tigers will play their first World T20 game against New Zealand on September 21, 2012.
