http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 name squad for 2nd Test, Ashraful sidelined - Cricket News Update
Bangladesh, on Thursday named the squad for the second and last Test of two-match home series against Pakistan beginning at the Shere Bangla Stadium of Mirpur on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
Experienced middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ashraful-c76740, failed to make the cut for the tour ending Test match owing to his poor performance in the Chittagong Test, where the Dhaka batsman could last for fourteen deliveries in two innings.
Ashraful had scored one run in the first innings and a sweet duck in the second innings as Bangladesh lost the match by an innings and 184 runs.
There was a little confusion regarding Ashraful’s inclusion in the squad for Dhaka Test on Thursday as the middle order batsman not only checked in with the Bangladesh team into the hotel on Wednesday, but was also seen practicing
in the nets along with thirteen other players.
Also the Bangladesh national coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Grant-Law-c91460, had confirmed that Ashraful was part of the squad for second Test.
"As far as I know, he [Ashraful] is in the squad," Law had said while talking to the media reporters after the mandatory pre-match practice session on Thursday morning. "That's why he's here at practice. We haven't been told anything
different. Maybe it is speculation, that sort of thing goes on in this part of the world," he added further.
However, the list of players that was approved by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, AHM http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122, late on Thursday evening, did not include Ashraful’s name.
Ashraful, who was dropped for the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, had made a comeback to the national setup for the Chittagong Test against but after failing to score, the
27-year-old Dhaka cricketer has been axed.
In the meanwhile, Shafiul Islam has been called back in to the national side after being ignored for the lost Chittagong Test against Pakistan. He had also missed the home Test series against Caribbean side due to a foot injury.
Squad: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robiul-Islam-c86349, Nazmul
Hossain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shafiul-Islam-c2479.
