Bangladesh need to be mentally stronger, feels http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 – Cricket News Update
Darren Sammy, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 are quite a talented team but said that they need to be mentally stronger to perform well consistently at the highest stage of the game.
The Caribbean men defeated the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bengal-c771 Tigers in the second of the two-match Test series at Khulna by 10 wickets to complete a whitewash in the series as they won the first Test at Mirpur by 77 runs.
The home team performed well in patches throughout the series but failed to maintain the level of consistency required in international cricket. Their batsmen promised a lot in the two Tests but crumbled under pressure in the second innings of both the encounters, which led to their downfall.
Bangladesh are still considered to be minnows at the international level but Sammy’s men did well to avoid complacency against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 and company. The West Indies captain believes that his side proved to be a superior unit in all departments of the game in the series.
“We performed more consistently over the last ten days of Test cricket [than Bangladesh],” Sammy said. “We didn't take them for granted. In key moments, like the second innings, we did more things better than them.”
The all-rounder from St Lucia is of the view that Bangladesh possess a number of talented players who can make it count against the world’s best teams, but feels that they still need to work hard.
The captain mentioned, “They are quite a young team, and once they are mentally stronger they can keep pressing against higher-ranked opposition. We were a team at the same stage, but we have worked on this so it's good to see performance coming consistently.”
Pitches in both the Tests were extremely in favour of the batsmen, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804 making the most against an inexperienced bowling attack.
The skipper is all praise for his bowlers, who did an exceptional job on flat tracks. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 picked up six wickets in the first innings of the Khulna Test; whereas, Best came up with a match-winning show in the second.
“We had to work for most of our wickets. The pitch was really good for batting,” Sammy added.
