Bangladesh overcome Zimbabwe to take series 3-1
The Bangladesh team muscled its way to a victory in the fifth and final ODI to claim the series against Zimbabwe. The visiting team wasn’t able to trouble the Bangladesh team after a solid start to the series.
After the abandonment of the fourth match, Bangladesh knew that they will not lose the series even if Zimbabwe comes up with a win in the final match. Zimbabwe on the other hand was under pressure after being unable to cope with
the spinners. The pressure sepped in the match and Zimbabwe was yet again unable to contest with the host team.
After winning the toss on a slow track, Zimbabwe decided to bat first. The decision may have come due to the nature of the track. The team would have liked to post a decent total to give the bowlers a chance to defend.
Things didn’t start well for the visitors as they lost three wickets for just 21 runs in the 11th over. The devastation started for the team when their opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 got run-out without disturbing the score.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tatenda-Taibu-c92882 and Craig Ervive tried to rescue the team after guiding the team to 116 with a solid 95 run partnership. Ervine got out after making a struggling 46 off 100 balls in the 39th over. The batsmen continued
to struggle until the last over and just managed to score 188 runs in the 50 overs allotment.
Although Zimbabwe managed to survive until the end and didn’t lose more wickets, they would have liked to score more than 225 to give their bowlers a chance. Apart from Ervine, Taibu was also in the runs by scoring 64 and being
the top scorer for Zimbabwe in the match. Other batsmen were not able to cause any damage to the Bangladesh bowlers.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 team out but the job had been done by restricting the visitors to a low total. The captain of the Bangladesh team, Shakib-Al-Hasan grabbed three wickets and he was supported by Mashrafe
Mortaza who also took a couple of wickets. The other bowlers remained wicket-less and the left arm spinner, Abdur Razzak would have been disappointed after not being able to break the record of highest wickets in a bilateral five match ODI series.
The Bangladesh team did lose an early wicket in the very first over but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Junaid-Siddique-c1749 scored a century partnership of 136 to make sure that Zimbabwe was totally out of the match. Tamim scored 95 runs off just
96 balls before getting out in the 29th over. His partner remained unbeaten on 56 and guided the team to victory.
The Zimbabwe bowlers would have hoped to pressurize the batsmen but apart from Ray http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Prosper-Utseya-c82728, none of the bowlers were able to restrict the Bangladesh batsmen.
The target was achieved in the 43rd over and Bangladesh won their third consecutive match to clinch the series. Tamim Iqbal was named man-of-the-match after his blazing innings. He managed to score runs quickly where
other batsmen were unable to find them easily. He hit seven sixes and five fours in his total of 95.
The left arm spinner, Abdur Razzak was named the player of the series after his heroic efforts in the series with the ball. He grabbed 13 wickets in four matches and devastated the Zimbabwean team.
The back to back series victories for Bangladesh will give them confidence before the World Cup which will be co-hosted by Bangladesh. This can be a threat to other teams in their group as the Bangladesh team can be dangerous playing
on home ground.
