the Bengali Tigers are scheduled to tour in April this year.
Pakistan has not hosted any international match since March 2009 when the on tour Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked by militants on their way to Gaddafi Stadium in the eastern city of Lahore. Three years after the disgraceful
incident, no international team is willing to tour the country.
Since then, Pakistan has been hosting its home series at the neutral venues of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 cricket board had last year hinted at sending its team to Pakistan but no progress was made in this regard and Pakistan
was once again forced to host its home series against the Islanders at the neutral venues of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 in October last year.
Besides all this, Pakistan was also deprived of the hosting rights of last year’s esteemed world cup event, causing a huge financial loss to the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials had last year requested their counterparts in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board (BCB) to send their players to Pakistan for a bilateral series. BCB agreed to send its national team to the
terrorism hit country but had requested the government to send a team to Pakistan to assess the security arrangements for the Bengali players. But now it has been reported that the players have expressed concerns over the itinerary and want BCB to discuss
the matter with them before reaching a decision.
Rehman, who was also the first Test captain of Bangladesh, said that the security situation in the country is not that encouraging, adding that it is not safe to send the players when no other board is willing to do so.
"We [CWAB] don't have a stance as such, but we know that the players are worried," said Rahman speaking to the media on Monday.
"The situation is not normal there and no other team is going to Pakistan…I personally believe it is not safe. The worried players haven't approached us formally, but when they do, we will take the matter to the cricket board,"
he added further.
Meanwhile Pakistan Cricket Board is striving for fool proof security arrangements for the Bangladesh team and have sought bullet and bomb proof vehicles from the interior ministry to provide transport to the visiting team.
