Bangladesh seek tips from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 – Cricket News Update
As they prepare for their do-or-die match against Pakistan in the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Twenty20 2012, Bangladesh are understandably looking to fortify themselves against the deadly spin of Saeed Ajmal, and have turned to their bowling coach Saqlain Mushtaq for inside information – the former Pakistani spinner who is credited with the invention of the ‘doosra’.
“Ajmal is a world class bowler but we have taken help from Saqlain who is very experienced but we have to execute our plans on the field and it's a do-or-die match for us but Pakistan is not unbeatable if we play well,” said Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim.
“Playing Pakistan is a big challenge because their bowling is good but we want to put up our best to qualify for the next round,” he added.
The final Group D match, scheduled for September 25 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, determines which team will be moving on to the Super Eights stage of the tournament. New Zealand have already secured their place in the next stage, while Pakistan have a win against the Kiwis under their belt. Bangladesh have yet to win a match, but have the opportunity to progress into the Super Eights stage if they manage to defeat Pakistan by 36 runs or more (which would ensure that the Tigers have a net run-rate higher than or equal to Pakistan's).
Among the Tigers’ main concerns, when it comes to tackling Pakistan, is chalking out a strategy for playing wily off-spinner Saeed Ajmal. With 122 wickets from 23 Tests, 109 from 71 ODIs, and 64 from 43 T20Is, the 34-year-old is counted among the best spinners on the international cricketing stage, and has a bevy of variations in his armoury, among them the doosra.
Straight off a successful limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s first Group D match, which they went on to win by 13 runs.
Learning to pick Ajmal would be more than half the job done for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, as they seek to further their World T20 campaign. The Tigers have been largely unsuccessful in the past three editions of the World T20. The inaugural edition in 2007-08 saw them managing to reach the second round, but since then they have gone on to suffer nine consecutive defeats in the World T20 tournaments over the years.
