Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, is ecstatic about the upcoming series between Pakistan and Bangladesh and believes that Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan is going to pave the way for future international cricket in the country.
The minnows are scheduled to visit Pakistan for a couple of international matches at the end of April and if the series goes ahead as proposed, it will revive international cricket in the country after more than three years.
Since the terror-attack on the Sri Lankan team outside Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore in March, 2009, Pakistan has been cornered in the world of sport. The Green Shirts have played all their matches away from home, which has been a massive setback for them.
However, the present regime of PCB is working day and night to make sure that international sport comes back to the country and for this purpose, PCB has been in negotiations with its Bangladeshi counterparts since the last few months.
While talking to Pakpassion, Ashraf expressed that the proposed tour will go ahead as scheduled and it will be a huge breakthrough for Pakistani cricket.
PCB is also planning for Pakistan Premier League later this year and the Chairman PCB is of the opinion that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 series will be a crucial step towards the direction of holding a franchise league.
Ashraf expressed, "The Bangladesh tour will happen, and then there will be international players coming in for the League. That will pave the way for other teams to come to Pakistan."
The Chairman PCB further added that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 has supported Bangladesh on numerous occasions in past and this is time for the brotherly country to pay back the favours.
"We had been in talks with Bangladesh for the last six months. Bangladesh is a Muslim country, they are our brothers. Bangladesh cricket has improved immensely. If you look at the history, Pakistan has always supported Bangladesh. Pakistan played a supportive
role at the time of the awarding of the Test status to Bangladesh," the Chairman PCB added.
There are still come question marks over the series as some of Bangladesh’s senior players and officials have shown reluctance upon touring Pakistan due to security issues.
