Bangladesh to play two additional T20s against Netherlands and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756 – Cricket News Update
In a bid to have some extra practice ahead of September’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 Championship, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has added two more T20 matches to their tour of Europe this summer.
The two extra T20’s will be played against Netherlands and Scotland after the Tigers complete their three-match T20 series against Ireland. This was confirmed by Cricket Netherlands' Chief Executive Officer, Richard Cox.
"We are delighted to have secured the opportunity to host a Full Member country on home soil as it has been some time since this last happened,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-Cox-c84944, while speaking to the media reporters on Monday.
The Bangladesh cricket captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045, was excited at having sealed an opportunity to play two extra T20 matches against the Dutch and Scotland cricket teams and hoped to see tough competition from both sides.
"The T20 game is a great leveller and our matches against the Netherlands and Scotland should be very interesting,” said Mushfiqur Rahim during a media encounter on Monday. "http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in a World T20 game and Scotland has some fine players,”
the wicketkeeper batsman added further.
The Bangladesh cricket team is looking forward to be fully prepared for the esteemed T20 tournament and already has a tightly packed summer which will see them playing a tri-nation T20 series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 this month.
The Tigers will next move to Ireland to play a three-match T20 series in July. The T20 series in Ireland was initially meant to be an ODI one, but the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board requested their Irish counterparts to change the format so that both sides could
have some extra practice for the World T20 tournament to be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in September this year. The request was accepted by Cricket Ireland over the weekend.
"It's great news that we're taking on Bangladesh and the games will give us valuable preparation as we build towards the World Cup in Sri Lanka,” the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Philip-Verant-Simmons-c82175 had told the media reporters on Sunday.
A total of 12 teams will feature in the 2012 ICC World T20 Championship. The teams have been divided into four groups of three teams each. The Bengali Tigers have been drafted in Group D along with former champions http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Both the matches will be staged at Voorburg Cricket Club, near The Hague, on July 24 and 25.
