Despite clouds still hovering over the pending matter of Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan, the final decision in this regard is expected to made by the highest cricketing governing body, the International Cricket Council, in its annual meeting, scheduled to
take play today in Dubai.
The conference will see chairman of PCB, Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 last month and discussed the possibility of a tour. Kamal, upon analyzing the security arrangements, had
returned back satisfied but has yet to inform his counterparts whether the national team will travel to their close neighbours and help in their pursuit of resuming international cricket.
According to reports, BCB remain reluctant to send their team after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 made it clear that they will not be appointing their recognized officials, despite giving the series a go ahead under a dispensation policy, allowing the host nation to appoint its own
local umpires and match referees.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains optimistic about the Bangladesh tour and the chairman will try to convince http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamal-c70069 again,” said a PCB official.
If Bangladesh rejects the tour invitation, PCB will then have other options to look into – including bringing in a World XI to contest against the national team. In another already successful attempt, the board had recently managed to invite a British university
students team, which played against the Under-19 side. They are also in further negotiations with a British based county club – hoping that such initiatives will pave way for the resumption of International cricket in the region.
On a bigger front, PCB is also trying to arrange a Twenty20 league, the Pakistan Premier League, and hope that the money involved will entice foreign cricketers to come and play in the cricket-starved nation.
"It's exciting to have a very good initial response from corporate companies on the PPL," PCB chief operating officer Subhan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Said-c42354. "We are looking at the viability of a Twenty20 event involving some foreign players, and it would be great if it comes
about," he said.
