The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397, hopes Bangladesh’s short tour to Pakistan at the end of this month will help the revival of International cricket in the terrorism stricken country.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had confirmed last Sunday that its national team will tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the last week of April to play a One Day International and a T20 International in Lahore. The ODI will be played on April 29 at the Gaddafi Stadium,
Lahore, while the T20 match will be played at the same venue on April 30.
Ashraf hoped the latest proceedings, coupled with President Asif Zardari’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 earlier this month will help in revival of Indo-Pak cricket.
"I am sure the Bangladesh tour will break the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gareth-Berg-c1457,” said Zaka Ashraf speaking to the media reporters on Wednesday, adding, “The breakthrough achieved during President Asif Ali Zardari's tour to India will also help in the revival of Indo-Pak cricket.”
Bangladesh will be the first Test playing team to tour Pakistan since the militant attacks on Sri Lankan team's bus in Lahore in March 2009. Seven Sri Lankan players, including the assistant coach, had received injuries during the disgraceful incident.
Since then international teams had shunned Pakistan as the Men in Green have been playing their home series on neutral venues of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033.
The Bangladesh Coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 in October last year, said that the law and order situation in the country is much better
than it was in 2009 and assured fool proof security for Bangladesh players and support staff.
"The situation is not like it was in 2009. Since cricket was suspended in Pakistan our grounds were left deserted but things have improved," said the PCB chairman.
"Cricket is a passion in Pakistan and convincing Bangladesh to tour is a victory for all of us and now even a single policeman will do his best to give the visitors full security," he added further.
The Bengali Tigers are due to arrive in Lahore on April 27.
