Canada 112 all out http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 113/1 in 19.2 overs
Hosts Bangladesh, gave a warning signal to major teams in the world as they trounced the hapless minnows http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zahur-Ahmed-c98518 Stadium in Chittagong.
The hosts, who are set to start the World Cup with a match against fellow co-hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Dhaka, underlined their ambitions for the tournament by making short work of the North Americans, who found the going tough against a Test playing opponent.
The hosts won the toss and sent the opposition in to bat. The Canadians found the going tough from the outset. They had their top three batsmen sent packing by the time the score reached 22.
Hiral Patel, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rubel-Hossain-c2378 and Shafiul Islam. The two snared a brace of wickets each to push the minnows back early.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Bagai-c46284, the captain and, Jimmy Hansra, were the only two batsmen to offer some semblance of resistance. Bagai scored 30 while Hansra chipped in with 22 to put the innings on track for a short while.
However, their efforts were nipped in the bud as they fell in quick succession.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nitish-Kumar-c79751 with 15 runs was the only batsmen other than the two to show some keenness of staying at the wicket. The innings ended with the total at 112 in the 38th over of the innings.
For the Bangladeshis, Shakib Ul http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877, joined the two opening bowlers taking 2 wickets of his own.
The Bangladeshis were hardly troubled in their chase. The opening batsmen, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640, and Imrul Kayees, blazed away towards the meagre target, taking a liking to the nervous bowling attack of the Canadians.
Kayees scored an unbeaten 39 off 57 balls. His innings included 5 fours.
On the other hand, the usually free scoring Iqbal was hardly troubled by the minnows smashing a belligerent 69 off only 50 balls. His knock was embellished by 7 fours and 3 sixes.
The chase was completed in the 20th over of the innings as Bangladeshi fans rejoiced in their crushing triumph.
The win is set to boost their confidence ahead of their clash with tournament favourites, India, at Dhaka on the 19th of this month.
