In the sixth match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2012, Bangladesh grabbed their second successive win in the tournament after beating Sri Lanka by five wickets, at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

The duo took the tally to 120 runs before Thirimanne finally lost his wicket after belting an innings of 48 runs. However, rain ruined Sri Lanka’s effort as it prevented Bangladesh from starting their innings on time, putting Duckworth–Lewis method (D/L method) in motion which reduced the required tally to 212 runs in 40 overs.
Losing their first wicket with only eight runs on the board, Bangladesh launched a steady run chase and kept the required run rate in check which actually helped them win the game in the end with 17 deliveries remaining.
