Bangladesh v West Indies – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in Bangladesh Test Series (2nd Test) – Match Recap – Windies clinch series 2-0 after 10-wicket victory
A stellar performance from their seamers set the West Indies up for a massive 10-wicket win during their second Test against Bangladesh, enabling them to sweep the series 2-0, following a hard-fought contest at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imtiaz-Sheikh-c64290 Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna from
November 21 to 25.
With a first match victory firmly under their belts, the visitors breezed through the second Test courtesy 6-wicket hauls from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010 and Tino Best, both of whom played crucial roles in keeping the host team’s batsmen in line. The victory was further
secured with the aid of three massive batting performances – centuries from Darren Bravo and Player of the Series Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and a double hundred from Player of the Match Marlon Samuels.
The match had kicked off with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 (23-4-74-3). The
innings only started to pick up pace with number 7 batsman Nasir Hossain, who contributed a solid 52. By the 56th over, the Tigers found themselves at a shaky 193 for 8, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abul-Hasan-c41857 (113) got their team
up to a competitive 387 before they were all out on the second day of play.
During the visitors’ first innings, the Tigers made a valiant effort to stay in the game, aided by Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 (25) and
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441 (13) for paltry scores, and kept an effective check on most of the middle and lower order, they were unable to restrict three key batsmen.
The main driving force behind the innings was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390 (150*). The crux of the innings was a 326-run third-wicket partnership between Samuels and Bravo, followed
by a 177-run stand between Chanderpaul and Samuels. Bravo and Samuels were eventually dismissed, but Chanderpaul saw the innings through until the end, with the Windies reaching a solid 648 before they declared on day four.
The Tigers, in response, were unable to muster up much of a reply. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Nasir-Hossain-c77146 (94) remained the only two batsmen who put forth competitive performances and saved the home team from an innings defeat – however, both were frustratingly
cut short, a few runs away from centuries. Tino Best (12.1-1-40-6) remained the deadliest bowler and registered his best figures in a Test innings, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Veerasammy-Permaul-c94981 (20-2-67-3) chipped in with a substantial supporting performance. The final day saw
the Tigers all out for 287, setting the tourists a meagre 27-run target.
The Windies’ openers Gayle (20*) and Powell (9*) completed the chase within 5 overs, getting their side up to 30 with 10 wickets still in hand. The victory enabled the visitors to lift the cup after their 2-0 series win, marking their second successive Test
series victory after the 2-0 triumph over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 earlier this year – the first time since 1992-93 that they have won two consecutive extended-overs series.
