Having decided to bat after winning the toss on day one, the West Indies had declared after posting a massive first innings total of 527, courtesy stellar performances from Powell (117), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/D-Ramdin-c1299 (126*). However, the Tigers were equal to the challenge.
The earlier part of their first innings was driven by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 (62).
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869 (who went into overdrive late in the innings and mopped up the tail) all made attempts to rein in the opposition, but the Tigers eventually posted a total of 556 before they were all out on the fourth day.
The tourists then stepped up to the crease for a second time, faced with the need to post a sizeable total for the host team to chase. However, once again, much like the first innings, Powell (56*) came through for the team, and aided by Darren Bravo (42*), got the Windies up to 124 for 1 by tea, leading by 95 runs and with 9 wickets remaining.
