Bangladesh v Zimbabwe – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Twenty20 Warm-up Matches – Match Recap – Bangladesh wins by 5 wickets
Owing to two stable partnerships, Bangladesh were able to clinch a 5-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in their ICC World Twenty20 Warm-up Match, played today on September 15 at the Colts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c89559, Elias Sunny, and Mahmudullah picked up one wicket each, to restrict Zimbabwe to 134 by the end
of 20 overs.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Sibanda-c2740 (who top-scored for the team with 40), both of whom joined forces to set up a 22-run partnership. However, Masakadza soon became Razzak’s first victim of the day, stumped by wicketkeeper
skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushfiqur-Rahim-c2045 in the 4th over.
He was followed to the crease by skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BRM-Taylor-c1200, who contributed an individual score of 21, in addition to joining Sibanda for a 27-run partnership for the second wicket. Their combined efforts got the team total up to 49 by the 10th over,
after which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 was caught out by Mashrafe Mortaza off Elias Sunny.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahmudullah-c1877 on 9 by the 13th over. By this point in the match, Zimbabwe were at 71 for 3. However, the team received some respite in the form of a 33-run stand
between Sibanda and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malcolm-Waller-c74039 (18), which got the score up to 104 by the 18th over.
Both batsmen were eventually sent packing by the 19th over, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Richard-Ervine-c51733 managed a quick-fire contribution of 19 off 7 (including 2 sixes and 1 four), after which Razzak stepped in during the final over to claim him for his second wicket of
the day. By the 20th over, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AG-Cremer-c947 (0*) at the crease, Zimbabwe posted a final total of 134 for 6.
Much like Zimbabwe, Bangladesh’s innings did not feature any particular stand-out batting performances – however, two half-century stands saw the team home, despite the efforts of the Rhodesian bowlers.
Bangladesh opened their innings with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Vitori-c1198 in the second over. However, Shakib Al Hasan, who succeeded him, chipped in with
a contribution of 28 runs, in addition to establishing a 52-run stand with Ashraful.
A sudden flurry of wickets caused Bangladesh a scare in the middle of their innings – the partnership between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hasan-c61990 and Ashraful came to an end with the dismissal of the former by Ray Price in the 8th over, followed by Ashraful’s departure at
the hands of Cremer (4-0-10-2) in the 9th over.
The situation was further aggravated when skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (3) was sent packing by Chigumbura in the 10th over, after which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Nasir-Hossain-c77146 (1) became Cremer’s second victim of the day in the 11th over, leaving the team at a shaky
85 for 5.
However, the innings was rescued by Mahmudullah (23*) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ziaur-Rahman-c98624 (26*), both of whom set up an unbeaten 50-run partnership which saw the team home, enabling them to reach 135 with 5 wickets and 10 deliveries remaining.
