Bangladeshi batsmen to watch out for in fourth ODI, Imrul Kayes
The 3rd One Day International between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 at Mirpur was dominated by the hosts. As a result, they beat their tourists by 7 wickets as they chased a modest total of 173 runs in 40 overs.
Bangladeshi spinners set the tone for the match, leaving their batsmen with a mammoth score to achieve. Their batsman responded with a match winning display of batting. Next we will take a look at their top batsman to watch out for, in the 4th
ODI.

Shahriar is an attacking left hand batsman with a wide range of shorts. As an aggressive opener Nafees is capable enough of giving his team quick starts. His attacking instincts are well backed up by his good defensive technique.
In ODIs, the left hand opener has done reasonably well. He has gathered 1965 runs in 62 matches at an excellent average of 34. In his hunt for quick runs, he has struck 4 centuries.
Currently, in the ongoing series against New Zealand he has given his team what they require from him, quick starts. He has responded very well to the orders, considering the fact that he was making a comeback and was replacing their premier batsman Tamim
Iqbal. So to substitute the best batsman of the side and living up to the expectations is not easy, especially when you are making a return to your national side.
Furthermore, he added 35 runs off 38 balls in the first ODI. It was the 2nd highest score in Bangladesh’s innings. His contribution helped his team to get to a reasonable total of 229 runs, which in the end they defended quite well. The aggressor
carried his form to the next ODI.
Going into the 3rd ODI, he gained some confidence from his first match performance. New Zealand set a modest total of 173 runs in 50 overs for Bangladesh to chase and an opportunity to go up 2-0 in the series. Bangladeshi bowlers had done their
job, now it was up to their batsmen to prove their talent.
Shahriar took complete advantage of chasing a low score. As a result, he bludgeoned the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the ground as he scored a run a ball 73 to set up the chase nicely. His innings did throw New Zealand out of the game as Bangladesh chased
the target, losing just 3 wickets.
He will be eyeing the remaining matches of the series to cement his place in the squad. New Zealanders will be well aware of the threat that Nafees can pose to them. If the left hander carries his form with the bat to the next ODI then New Zealand might
lose the series to Bangladesh, for the first time in history.
Imrul Kayes
Imrul Kayes is another one of the left handed batsman from Bangladesh, but in a different mould. He is not like his co-stars, Shahriar and Tamim, but he is a perfect support for his attacking partners. If Shahriar can give quick starts, then he can play
a sheet anchors role, giving his side an option of stability without throwing his wicket cheaply. Mainly, he is strong off his legs and plays the on-drive particularly well.
Overall, he has done well in his 24 match ODI career. In addition, he has scored 737 runs at an average of 30 with a best of 101. His tally of runs includes a single century.
Furthermore, when Nafees was going ballistic at one end, he was perfectly supporting his run scoring partner, ensuring Bangladesh did not lose an early wicket. Kayes struck a solid half-century off 83 balls. In his hunt for his half century he only managed
4 boundaries.
Bangladesh will be hoping that their solid left hand batsman remains focused and calm on the crease. Imrul’s calmness will be tested by their current opposition as they will be looking for early breakthroughs to make a comeback in the series.
