Bangladesh’s scheduled tour of Zimbabwe in doubt – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747’s proposed tour of Zimbabwe remains in doubt after the host team confirmed that pitches in their country might not be prepared till August.
The Bengali Tigers were scheduled play two Tests, three ODIs and a T20 during their travels later in the year however, with the pitches not being ready, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 Cricket had requested the BCB to postpone the tour for two months, in October, which will give them sufficient time to relay the strips in Harare and Bulawayo.
"We have requested (the BCB) that the series be moved to October from August," Ozias Bvute, managing director of Zimbabwean cricket told ESPNcricinfo. "This is because we want to work on our wickets and squares in Harare and Bulawayo.”
Other stumbling block was revealed as the South African tour, which will take place in June this year. The Proteas’ unit will play five T20s, with the first game commencing on June 20. It therefore gives little time for Rhodesians to relay the tracks before that and hence, have decided to start the work after the conclusion of their home series against SA.
The BCB remain reluctant to tour in October, which coincides with their own domestic competition. Enayet Hossain Siraj, the BCB's chairman of the cricket operations committee said they are prepared to tour early next year if the tour does not go as planned.
They (Zimbabwe) have informed us that neither of their grounds is prepared so it won't be possible in August," Enayet told Daily Star."They proposed a tour in October but it won't be possible because we will have our domestic season at the time. So we agree to hold it in April 2013."
The Tigers are in supreme form, which includes a powerful showing in this year’s Asia Cup – finishing runners up to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. Their next task sees them travelling to their close neighbours for a short series of an ODI and T20 – allowing the Men In Green to resume cricket in their country for the first time since 2009.
The tour is expected to be http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s Centre of Excellence.
