How can such a tiny country like Bangladesh be able to squeeze in 150 million people plus more? I mean, wouldn't some of these people decide to leave already knowing that their country is too small to handle that many people? What keeps these people within the boundaries of their country?

  1. It is a medium sized country of 50,000 sq.miles, about the size of an average state in USA.

Nothing new to them. They have been like that for generations. The land is highly fertile producing anything you sow on it, round the year. Except in heavy rains there is no threat to soil productivity. The country is criss-crossed by hundreds of rivers. It is the largest river delta that spills over into the next country, India. All these rivers have abundent river fish, the staple diet of Bengalees. Most of them are happy with their condition. But yes, population spill over throws out some people. They are found all over in UK, USA and Europe. When the country was East Pakistan and Pakistan Army has suppressed a local revolt, it drove into the arms of fellow Bengalees of India a huge mass of refugees in 1971. This exodus constituted 10 million. All that resulted in the creation of that land into the present day Bangladesh. Conditions in India that is much more industrialised are slightly better. That encourages chronic illiegal human trafficking into India. It is estimated unofficially that twentyfive to thirty million Bangladeshis have seeped surreptitiousely into the billion plus population of India, giving rise to Socio-Economic problems for India. Some states(Assam particularly) have seen them swamping the local population that they might become minority in due course. In Tripura state that is now the reality. Being Muslim (But for a small minority of Hindus, Bangladesh is a Muslim country) some of these are working for Islamic terrorist outfits. This results in terrorist acts like periodic bomb-explosions in crowded market places in India. The consequences are disastrous. Every Bengalee speaking muslim is looked at with suspicion.

  2. Poverty.

  3. two things religion( sunni Islam) and poverty, the per capita GDP in 2007 was about $1300.00 per annum.there are few countries which will accept vast numbers of sunnis and they have no money to make a journey if there were.
