Question:

Bank Products - a little information please...?

I work in a bank as a teller and we have to sell products. It's not something most customers like having pushed on them, so I don't like having to do it. It is a requirement of my job though. Many times a day, non-customers will visit the bank I work at and ask me to cash a check for them because they don't have an account anywhere, or they do at another bank but chose to cash the check with us because the person that wrote the check is a customer of ours. (Sorry if that sounded elementary to any of you readers, but you would be surprised to know how many people don't understand how some bank policies work). Anyway, my question is this:

I want to impove my sales, so what product benefits interest you and how would you like it relayed to you?

I really want to be the best at referrals and I feel that if I know what many of you would want, it will help me with the customers and future customer I interact with by knowing what the majority is looking for.

  1. Study the product features well, emphasize the positive aspects, be honest, try to show genuine attention and interest, go out of your way to help them in answering their questions.

    Sounds simple, but doesn't happen always./  


  2. when those non customers come in... have them set up an account with you... my mom's bank gives 50 dollars to set up a checking account with new money... everyone needs free money right now.. your bank is obviously convienient for them so the hard part is done,, they are right in front of you,, tell them how easy it is to set up an account... you dont have to cold call or go door to door... they are right in front of you with a check,,, you need quick, easy and benificial to the customer...
