  1. Every bank charges different fees for their accounts. So, the only way for you to know is if you go into the bank and actually talk to a bank represenative.

  2. Assuming one or both of you is aged 18 or over, there shouldn't be a problem.  Here in Ireland, there are some banks who operate current accounts (for US, that's check accounts) with no fees, and of course you could always go for a joint savings account.  Do your research  -  ask the banks or find out online  -  and find out what is available and most suitable, near you.

  3. a fee is not necessarily assessed when opening an account but there must be a minimum deposit, least one could get is a deposit of a $1. you must be asking about fees like monthly service charges. This depends on the account being opened/ or which bank. Service fees are usually assessed for interest bearing accounts like savings account not likely for regular checking account. But you can find banks without monthly charges at all.

if that is a joint account, both bearers should be present with at least two valid identification.
