I am moving to France in December. But until then, I will be traveling between the US and France, spending most of my time in France. Is it possible to open a bank account have a CB without a carte de sejour ?

  1. yes

  2. Some banks require the carte de séjour but some don't, like the Crédit Municipal de Paris:

    CMP-BANQUE

    55 rue des Francs Bourgeois

    75004 Paris

(Métro ligne 1 Hôtel de ville ou ligne 11 Rambuteau).

    Tél. : 01 44 61 65 25

    Try also :

    La Caisse d'Epargne

    La Poste : https://www.particuliers.labanquepostale...

The only documents you will need to open an account is a form of ID and something proving your address (a lease or utility bill).

Otherwise you can open a non-resident account but they may not issue you a CB: http://www.justlanded.com/english/France...

  3. It should also be mentioned that some American banks such as Bank America are partnered with French banks. In the case of BOA it is partnered with BNP Paribas, one of the largest banks in Europe.

I routinely transfer funds and conduct other financial/banking business in Europe thru Bank America.  You might find this easier to do.
