Bank charges with halifax?

can I calim back because it was a direct debit and they didn't find £2 so the bank rejected it and charged me £35 now but I had money in my other accounts. can I call them and get it back or no chance?

  1. im claiming mine back through the courts as i find the halifax is one of those that just wont budge but im claiming back mine which inclue direct debits


  2. If you didn't have the money in the account which you tried to pay your DD on, then no. Whether you have other accounts is irrelevant, I'm afraid.  Pursuing £35 through the courts is a waste of time and money - especially if they are within their rights.

    What I would do is tell them to prepare your closing balances on the accounts because you wish to transfer them to another bank, and tell them why. That will give the the opportunity to waive the charges - especially if this is the first time something like this has happened. If they don't  play ball - then proceed with closing your accounts. (I've never had to pay for a credit card on this basis).
