Question:

Bank of England Check cashable?

I just received a check from The Bank of England through a client I was freelancing from. I am not very familiar with foreign banks and I was wondering..how can I cash this check for immediate funds?

I am not familiar with how my banks (I have Chase and BoA) will treat this foreign check. If I HAVE to deposit it, how long will it take to clear?

  1. You will have to deposit it.

You won't get immediate funds since it's a foreign bank.

If the money is in GBP, your bank will give you a decent conversion rate, but will charge you a fee.

You have to ask your bank how long it will take to clear.  I live in Texas, it would take forever here since all banking is local to the bank and virtually no one ever deposits foreign checks.
