Question:

Bankroll managements and other restrictions?

What restrictions do you place on yourself as far as bankroll? Do you use a certain amount or percentage per day? per table? per session? How much do you allow yourself to (potentially) lose and/or win?

Do you set other restrictions on yourself, such as time, number of tables/games? If so, what are they and why do you apply them?

  1. Different people use from 2% to 5%. The choice is yours but dont put more than that because you will be in great risk

  2. i never risk more than 10% of my bankroll at once, and that's more than others can stomach...it's just common sense, if you're a reasonable person there's no reason to just stick everything out there and hope to get lucky and have a winning session that day, it's just silly and entirely too risky

  3. I never risk more than 5-10% of my bankroll in one session.  That includes tournament fees.  If I find myself losing more than two buy-ins in one night, I quit.  It is the simplest and most effective bankroll management plan to date.  Check http://dagus-statistics.com/poker.htm for futher details.  Hope this helps.

  4. Of course i put limits on myself on what i can spend. when i buy into any cash game i never risk more then 2-5% of my roll. I know in the past i have tried to go above my head and i ended up paying the price for doing so. My friend has a lot more money to spend since he has a great i.t job, so he plays way above my head and every so often he talks me into sitting down, where i have to put down 15-20% of my roll on the line. So one bad beat or bad bluff on my part can mean weeks of work back at the 4-8 games. I also have limits in what i will win or loss as well, if i can double up my buy-in for the day then im done playing. Why try to pick up losses in one day, this never works, if im down 400-500 for the month then i will go day by day, 100 here, 100 there and before i know it im up 600 for the month.
