Who has been bankrupt? How did you feel afterwards?

I have become bankrupt about 2 weeks ago - and now am feeling horrible as I haven't told ANYone and am so scared that someone will find out.

Can you keep it a secret? Will my parents find out ever? My family? My boyfriend? My friends? My colleagues? How?

  1. As someone who is currently going through Bankruptcy I can empathize with your embarrassment, you probably feel that because you were always the one who seemed to have it together, people may think that you are a failure, well you are not!  Bankruptcy is a blessing in fact its origin is from the Bible in the old testament.  The fact that you have decided to be proactive in regaining your financial freedom you should be commended.  Don't be ashamed of telling people, in fact when you do start to tell people you will be surprised at how many people are just like you and are struggling financially and will ask you for the name of your attorney so they can file bankruptcy!  Good luck in the future and enjoy becoming financially free!!

By the way, you asked how does  it feel when you have filed bankruptcy, my answer to you is it feels great to be able to pick up the phone and know it is not a bill collector harassing you, or not worrying about the repo man taking your car and that you finally have control over your life once again.

  2. Being bankrupt means no income to pay your bills home foreclosures auto repossessions. Yes I have filed bankruptcy. You may not be experiencing bankruptcy but just a bad time making ends meet like a lot of people today. It's not a secret that times are hard now days

Bankruptcy is a total loss of all that you own. If you are behind in your bills such as credit cards and rent that is not Bankruptcy. If you go to a credit counseling service you might be able to consolidate your debts in to one monthly payment. Look in your phone book and see if they have a office near you. Here's one I used about ten years ago.
