My sister is filing for bankruptcy, my house used to be under her name but then through quit claim I now own the house, this was about a year and a half ago. Since she is filing for bankruptcy will I lose my house?

  1. You should consult with an attorney to make sure that everything was properly recorded and that the house is actually in your name.  If the bankruptcy trustee determines that the house is still your sister's asset, you do run the chance of losing it...

  2. not if this was that long ago!!!

  3. It's not likely. I don't think they could take it even if it was in her name and she filed BR.

BR laws differ from state to state.

    Sorry Wrong

OOPS!   I think BR is a federal law and they can't take your house or car.
