I am in charge of planning Banned Books Week at my bookstore. Any ideas on events and activities I could organized to demonstrate our support of freedom of expression? If you're involved in Banned Books week, what are you doing? Thanks!

  1. I'm not involved with any, but have attended some great ones in the past.  Other than the displays, 1/2 price does a great one btw, some stores have had readings, petitions to get a certain title reinstated in a local school, give aways, and scavenger hunts.  One year, there was a big white board set up where customers could jot the title of a banned book that they really enjoyed or learned from.

Have fun with it!  A fun event will really draw customers in and make your store a "must stop" for book junkies.

  2. I see no one has answered you yet. When I worked in a book store we didn't have any events for it. We just made a major display using the titles and placed a sign next to it saying "Express your Freedom! Read a banned book!" Try going to the Boarders or Barnes and Nobel website and see what kind of events they have planned,
