Do you support banning smoking in cars that carry children? And please give reasons. I have to write a paper and debate about this topic, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Any pointers on both the pros and cons of banning? Thank you all.

  1. I do agree with this law,

however if you are of legal age to smoke (and not of legal age to buy ciggarettes, which is 16) you can get busted for smoking in a car alone.

or if you are 19 and have friends that are 17, you can get booked in your car.

    this is bullshit.

  2. No.

My father smoked constantly in the car around my sister and I, and we weren't harmed by it. I doubt any other kids will. My sisters kids haven't been harmed either.

The govt. should just stop sticking it's nose in other peoples business. It will never be enforced anyway.

If you were a cop, and had to chase a bank robber, or someone smoking in their own car, who would you go after? I thought so.

  3. Yes yes yes yes!!!

Children can be at risk for second hand smoke which can KILL them later in life.

for a con you can say its personal choice

  4. no. it would be a waste of legislature.

chances are, if people smoke in the car w/ their kids, they smoke in their home w/ their kids.  so  attempting to make them stop having to breathe in smoke in the car would be pointless as most of their time would likely be spend inside the home.  and for those smokers who go outside to smoke, chances are they either dont smoke in tehir car or atleast have the window down.    making it illegal to smoke w/ young children in the car would be a waste of time and not significantly reduce any health risks in those children.  plus enforcement would be difficult and deciding what age the children would have to be in order for the parents to legally smoke would create more debates.

  5. I say yes because children who are exposed to smoke (whether in or out of a car) are at risk for health problems down the road. Plus, it's a distraction for the driver since he or she is preoccupied on the cigarette and not on the road. Also it just adds to the pollution and is gross.

Here's a fact sheet about secondhand smoke you can use from the American Lung Association:

  6. no because people are going to smoke anyways there is too many people the police wouldn't be able to enforce it. plus if people don't like smoking around their children they wouldn't do it  and if they do they are going to do it . i believe if its their car thendon'tt care what they do.

BUT IF ITS MY CARWOULDN'TT ALLOW SMOKE ,I DONT WANT TO CONTROL SOMEONE ELSE IN THEIR PROPERTY

  7. Yes. Why should kids be subjected to second hand smoke? Its a known fact that 2nd hand smoke is worse than actually smoking.

I see no con's to it. Just wish they could ban it in homes that have children or the elderly.

  8. Yes because second hand smoke is just as fatal as smoking regularly, also the kids have no choice to be there it's all their parents doing and I bet they would chose to not die

  9. Yes

    all pros no cons
