Banuinvest International 2012: Kana Ito brushes aside Ayumi Mine to grab Women’s Singles crown
Japan’s emerging player Kana Ito displayed a spectacular show of flawless badminton in the title match and won the Women’s Singles crown after beating her compatriot Ayumi Mine at Banuinvest International 2012 on Sunday, March 18, in Romania.
The un-seeded Kana, who showed an incredible performance in all matches in the tournament, continued her dominating run in the final as well where she did not take much time in beating her country-mate Ayumi in a sensational manner.
Kana displayed wonderful show of top class badminton and wrapped up the Women’s Singles title by ending the contest in straight games in just 35 minutes.
In the first game, both Japanese ladies played with precision by taking the bird early from all areas of the court.
They did not miss any chance to progress in the game and remained close on the score board until the end of first half.
Until the one-minute interval, Kana could only manage a small gap as her rival put up strong resistance by playing at her best speed.
After the break, Ayumi lifted up her level of play and dominated the pace of rallies by gearing up her speed in all areas of the court. She managed to level the score with her wonderful precision.
The score entered into the ending phase of first set when Kana dominated the pace of rallies and managed to bag the opening game with a dramatic margin of 21-19.
In the second set, Ayumi tried to play better badminton in the opening rallies but failed to dictate the pace as her rival was in wonderful control.
Kana dictated her rival in all areas of the court with her wonderful skills and did not drop the pace of rallies at any stage. She also kept Ayumi moving in all areas of the court by executing powerful strokes.
The in-form Kana continued her sensational performance in the second game and won it with an incredible 21-12 score on the board.
Kana emerged as the title winner of this tournament by ending the title match in straight games with a striking margin of 21-19 and 21-12.
