Bao Yixin, Cheng Shu claim Women’s Doubles crown in Indonesia Open – Badminton news
Women’s Doubles campaigners Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu lived up to the expectations and earned the right to be on top of the victory stand in Djarum Indonesia Open on Sunday, June 16, 2013.
The final was a domestic affair as both teams were from China. The other finalist duo Wang Xiaoli-Yu Yang F also displayed commendable craft on the court and kept the audience on their toes for 63 minutes.
Initially, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang played flawless badminton and won the opening game with 21-15 margin but they failed to go with same flow in the following games. The twosome of Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu managed to strike back and claimed the ending two match points with impressive results of 21-18 and 21-18.
The battle heated up in the establishing rallies of first set as both teams tried hard to gain an early advantage on points table. Neither of them could enjoy a permanent lead and kept chasing each other all the way to half time.
However, Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang forged a fruitful chemistry in third quarter of the set and established a strong grip over game. Both female shuttlers did not lose focus and finished this segment of the showdown with a favourable figure of 21-15.
The following game completely changed the scenario as the lower ranked Chinese duo did not lose heart and struck hard to tip the scale in its favour. This time Bao and Cheng did not repeat previous mistakes and played impeccable badminton.
They raised their chances of success with a respectable total at half time and then relished full benefits of this decent lead in latter part of the game. They registered a winning margin of 21-18 and levelled the match score.
With this development, the finale became quite interesting as both teams were looking to claim just one match point. Both Chinese pairs pushed each other in all areas of the court and earned great deal of admiration from the local crowd.
Initially, Wang and Yu Yang were in commanding position but then the twosome of Bao-Cheng ruled the court and sealed a splendid victory with 21-18 score.
