Bao Yixin, Cheng Shu power their way to final round Indonesia Open – Badminton news
Women’s Doubles experts Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu played impeccable badminton in the semi-final round and earned the right to contest in the title match of Djarum Indonesia Open on June 15, 2013.
They were up against a compatriot duo Tian Qing-Zhao Yunlei. Both Chinese pairs locked horns in the local badminton complex of Jakarta. This 42-minute tussle ended in just two games as the lower ranked team displayed unbeatable badminton skills to compile
final result of 21-17 and 22-20.
Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu laid foundation of their supremacy in the opening game and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments. They did not show any sign of confusion in first set of the match and amazed their challengers with a splendid show
of skills.
They started the beating from very first stroke and piled up a decent total without wasting any time. This initial lead helped them to keep the opposing shuttlers grounded in next couple of rallies.
Their strategy was a perfect blend of attack and defence. This game plan helped them to finish first half of the set with a respectable total.
After the mid-game break, Tian and Zhao showed some spark but their fluctuated performance was not enough to turn the situation in their favour. They kept trailing behind all the way to game point situation and finally gave up this futile chase after reading
the decisive figure of 17-21.
The twosome of Bao and Cheng started second set of match with an upper hand. They relished full benefits of their first set win and established a strong grip over game immediately in the beginning.
However, they could not go with same flow in next couple of rallies and allowed the opposing team to catch them on points table. Both teams were standing toe-to-toe before the announcement of mid-game break.
After the one-minute interval, Tian and Zhao prevailed in few back-to-back rallies and raised their chances of success.
At this stage, Bao Yixin and Cheng Shu showed strong character and tipped the scale back into their favour with a stunning knock. They locked the honours with a tight yet decisive figure of 22-20.
