  1. the trinity is a load of tosh

  2. Yes that is correct. Baptism should be done that way when the child/adult is old enough to understand what s/he is doing. It should be done by submersion.

It doesn't mean though that you are automatically saved. All it shows is that you are giving your life to the Lord. You HAVE to be saved before you get baptised.

  3. That is true for Christian baptism.  It always uses this formula.

  4. I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...this is what the minister/priest, etc. will say so yes.

  5. Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Catholics, Anglican Catholics, and Protestants all baptize both infants and adult believers when reciting a variation of the phrase, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."  They  also ordinarily don't accept a baptism as valid unless the Trinitarian formula is followed when administering the Sacrament.  When Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, Anglicans, and Lutherans make the Sign of the Cross, they also recite this phrase.

Public baptism grants or symbolizes salvation, depending upon whether one is a Catholic or a Protestant, commemorates the burial and resurrection of Jesus, fulfills Christ's great commission to witness and baptize, cleanses sins, confers grace, and bears witness of one's faith (or in infant baptism to the faith of one's parents).

    P. S.  -- I'm a Baptist too.  Baptists believe that after a believer makes a confession of faith, he or she is baptized as a witness to his/her belief.  As their name implies, Baptists submerse believers in water once they are old enough to decide for themselves their belief in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Many other Christian faiths, however, baptize infants.
