Barbados conditions might give Windies a chance to bounce back: David Hussey – Cricket News Update
Following their victory against hosts http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Hussey-c1380 has admitted that
the change in conditions might enable their opponents to get an upper-hand.
Commenting on their previous 8-wicket win, the 34-year-old pointed out that conditions had favoured the tourists in St Lucia, enabling them to gain a 1-0 series lead.
“The conditions really suited our game,” the all-rounder said.
The previous ODI series ended in a disappointing draw for the visitors, after they went into their tour of the Caribbean with high spirits, following their Commonwealth Bank series victory. While they managed to clinch a 64-run victory in the first match,
the next game saw them slipping up and conceding a 5-wicket defeat to the hosts.
Following a tied third game, the tourists were once again thumped by the home team in a 42-run defeat, which rang alarm bells for the top ODI team. The Aussies managed to salvage their pride by ending the series on a draw with a 30-run win in the last match.
After having acclimatized themselves to the conditions in St Lucia, the visitors managed to breeze through the first T20I.
“We really hit the ground running with the ball, our fast bowlers in Brett Lee and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653 up front really set the tone,” Hussey observed.
The Aussie bowlers were ruthlessly efficient, restricting the hosts to 150. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Watson-c2558 took one wicket, and in an effective display of economy, gave away just 16 runs in 4 overs.
The Aussies made light work of chasing the target, owing to a 108-run stand by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 (59).
However, the younger Hussey is of the view that the team will need to familiarize themselves with the conditions in Barbados if they aim to continue their winning streak.
“We'll get to Barbados, different wicket, different conditions and that might really bring the West Indies back into play,” he cautioned.
