Why is Barbados known as BIM?

  1. BIM is short for Bimshire which has something to do with England. Can't remember what exactly.

    Did some research: The island has been called Bimshire or Bim because the word ‘bim’ was a word frequently used by slaves, Igbo people who originated in eastern Nigeria. The word is a contraction of be mu, which means my people.
