  1. spectacular bid, barbaro, seabiscuit, in that order.

and fyi- barbaro's 3 year old class of 2006 was phenomenal, please.

bernardini, bluegrass cat, henny hughes, discreet cat, flashy bull, lawyer ron, showing up, sunriver, george washington....

    i could go on.

  2. It is fun to thing of situations like that, but there is no way for anyone to know what might happen in a situation involving different time eras, and this includes all sports.

  3. Spectacular Bid was so tough that eventually no one would even enter their horses against him, so I have to say Spectacular Bid.  Barbaro, we just simply don't know how good he was.  He never finished a race as anything but a winner and was surely a terrific animal, but the 3 year old colt class of 2006 was pretty undistinguished--Lawyer Ron and Corinthian are the only ones that made much noise as four year olds, though I continue to hold out hope that Brother Derek can get back on track.  Anyway, without seeing Barbaro against older horses, it's hard for me to really put him in the class with horses like Seabiscuit and Spectacular Bid.  Seabiscuit was another great horse, but training and breeding have advanced since his day and it would be hard to take him out of that time and place him in the modern context.  But he was great for his day, no question.

  4. sea bisquit
