With Barcelona trying to recruit at least two defenders in this summer transfer window, their first target is the Valencia star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-Alba-c19111.
Barcelona lost two of the major tournaments last season, the Spanish La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. Moreover, they also managed to lose one of the best coaches in their history, Josep Guardiola.
However, with Guardiola gone, the Catalan giants decided that his assistant coach, Tito Vilanova, should take the responsibility of the Barcelona A-team.
With Vilanova taking charge at the Nou Camp, the Catalan coach has decided to recruit at least two defenders in this summer transfer window.
Last season one of the major reasons why Barcelona struggled was the fact that they did not have quality defenders. With Eric Abidal missing out on first-team action due to a liver tumour, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique also missed some action due to injury and it was all
up to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Mascherano-c18071 for most of the season.
These two were doing an ‘okay’ job in the midfield, but the Brazilian left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adriano-c3773, found it hard to perfectly replace the Frenchman, Eric Abidal, in his position.
Therefore, with Abidal’s position currently being the weak-link in the Barcelona line-up, there is no doubt that Vilanova will try to get rid of this weakness and that is the reason why http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are currently trying to recruit a left-back.
Last season’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 star, Jordi Alba, is the player who is the player under Barcelona’s radar for quite some time now.
The Spanish left-back has done a phenomenal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 while playing for Valencia last season and there while playing for the Spanish national team Alba has proven himself time and time again.
He had to replace the former Villarreal left-back, Capdevila, in the left-back position and so far he has done a great job replacing him in that position.
Barcelona’s scouts are currently monitoring Alba’s situation and want to sign him in order to strengthen their defence.
Reports suggest that the Catalan giants are closing in on the former La Masia player.
At the moment, Alba is playing for the Spanish national side who have managed to qualify for the semi-final stage of the Euro 2012.
