Barcelo talanquera beach resort Dominican Republic reviews?

Anyone been here lately? I have read good, bad and ugly things.

Hi !,

The Hotel Talanquera Barcelo Resort is located in Juan Dolio near the " Boulevard" where you have some restaurants and shops. The beach is narrow but nice, and the hotel is not bad for a 3 1/2 star hotel. The problem is there is not much to do once you're outside the hotel, town Santo Domingo is 45 km away. This is good for people who like their hotel pool, beach, bar and who don't want to discover the country. If you can choose for better go to Puerto Plata.

I went to somewhere near Peurto Plata recently but I cant remember the name of the area, sorry.  But what I would say is that the north of the Island isnt the best place to go.  Its beaches are not the sort of carribean beaches on tv. They are the south of the Island and I didnt see them myself.  These beaches are in the carribean sea where the beaches in the north are the atlantic.  It was very choppy and brownish water.  Big tip: Do not go to The Carribean Club on the Sea, thats where I stayed on my honeymoon with husband and we came home a week early.  Take a look on the Trip Advisor website at the hotels before you book.  I would never go back to Dominican Republic.

I have not stay there but some people that i know has. They told me it is a good hotel for 3*, neat rooms, good food and drinks.
