  1. no it sucks thats why people go there

  2. When I was there I didn't notice people having problems with responding to me in English. And I do consider Barcelona the greatest city I've ever visited...

Around Plaza de Catalunya there are some great shops, and I would obviously recomend the Sagrada Familia (the church that Gaudi designed), as well as Parc Guell, Casa Milla, Casa Battló, the Ramblas, ...and many other places.

  3. Many people in Barcelona speak english. Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is a cosmopolitan Mediterranean city that incorporates in its urban street pattern Roman remains, medieval districts and the most beautiful examples of Modernism and 20th century avant-garde art. Not for nothing were the emblematic buildings of Catalan architects Antoni Gaudí and Luis Doménech i Montaner declared to be World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

Of Roman origin, Barcelona's long history and economic dynamism have provided it with an impressive cultural heritage, shown in the conservation of its rich historic and artistic heritage and in the encouragement of the newest artistic trends. Its long cultural agenda will lead the visitor through museums, exhibitions, outdoor sculptures... and an extensive calendar of music, theatre, and dance.

Popular culture also has a presence in this city, which does not forget deeply-rooted traditions, such as the Mercè Festival, or the holiday celebrations in the districts of Gràcia, Sants, or Poblenou, all excellent opportunities to get to know the more festive side of Barcelona.

Tradition and modernity are also responsible for shaping its innovative and imaginative cuisine, which is based on organically grown produce, fresh fish, sausages and olive oil. Home-made pastries, and sparkling wines will round off a merely superficial approach to Barcelona's culinary culture.

To take a stroll through the streets of Barcelona is to be surprised at every step. Pedestrian streets in the old districts, green spaces, and a splendid waterfront filled with modern structures all reflect the city's aim of integration. Barcelona has managed to exalt its past without forgetting its commitment to the future. The city has some extraordinary infrastructures dedicated to hosting seminars, symposiums and international competitions. Its exceptional communications network, its Mediterranean climate and its great number of tourist attractions make of Barcelona an important business city. Business facilities, as well as conference and exhibition centres, can accommodate the widest variety of initiatives.

The visitor, whether on business or pleasure, will enjoy Barcelona's Mediterranean character, which can be clearly felt on the Costa del Garraf as well as the Maresme coast. In addition, the city has beautiful urban beaches, marinas, and seafront golf courses. Nature lovers will not need to travel far to be able to hike through the hills that are part of the coastal mountain range and the Catalan Pyrenees.

  4. It is rude to visit a country without trying to learn at least the basics of their language.

    Hola!

    Como estas?

    Donde esta el bano?

Just learn at least a few phrases. More than those above of course.

  5. Well, in Spain of course they speak Spanish, at Barcelona they speak Catalan (80% Spanish, 10% French, 10% English-German-Italian), easy to understand if you speak Spanish of course! In main touristic sites they speak English, but it would be very nice if you speak at least Spanish, buy a dictionary and learn at least 50 useful phrases.

Barcelona is the most beautiful city I know! Visit, for shopping, the Plaza Cataluña, at the end of the main Rambla, then go to the Gaudi sites (La Sagrada Familia, Parque Güell, etc.), the Barrio Gótico, the old cathedral, the beach, Maremagnum, Montjuic, Miró Museum, and if you have a little time and can rent a car, don't miss Figueres (Dalí's hometown), and go to Perpignan (France border), don't forget your passport when going to the North! You can easily pass to France!

    Really nice city!

  6. barcelona is very nice country so you can enjoy your stay there in xmas also you can speak english most of them do about the nice places that you can visit there is carfoor mall you can enjoy shopping there.

  7. Ideally the Catalans would prefer it if you spoke Catalan, but don't worry if not. Almost everyone speaks English in the main tourist areas, but it's nice to make an effort. First of all I'd recommend not visiting any of the bars on the ramblas as the prices are v.expansive. There are some beautiful buildings in the city and one of the best ways of getting around is the tourist bus, buy a ticket and you also get discounts on entering some of the other places. There is a great magazine in English (the metropolitan) which is free and you can find it in most bars and restaurants, it has a good list of places to visit and any events. Christmas is a good time to visit as is quieter than in summer and you can eat 'turron' which is a typical Spanish chocolate. let me know how it goes. I live in Barcelona so any more information is welcome!

  8. The residents prefer if you speak in english than in Spanish, its easier for them to understand you. Few people only speak spanish there. I would visit La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. the museums are fun too. Have fun!

  9. YES ITS NICE MANY TOURIST ATTRACTION WELL OTHERS CAN UNDERSTAND ENGLISH BUT MANY PEOPLE NOW HERE IN SPAIN SPEAK CATALAN ITS BETTER THAT YOU KNOW A LITTLE TO SPEAK SPANISH ITS EASY TO LEARN.WELL HAVE A NICE VACATION AND ENJOY BARCELONA.
