Barcelona's youngster Thiago Alcantara admits that his team were far too relaxed against Real Sociedad
Barcelona’s young playmaker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-c34888 Alcantara, has revealed that the Catalan Giants were relaxed against Real Sociedad and as a result had to suffer from their second defeat of the season. The midfielder was talking after his team’s 2-1 loss to Sociedad
on Saturday, April 30 at the Anoeta.
This was Spanish’s 12th appearance for Barcelona since he joined the Catalan’s senior squad in 2009. He admitted that his team was far more relaxed even to their own liking and as a result slumped to an unpredictable defeat.
This victory though helped Sociedad earn vital three points and now find themselves on the 12th spot with 41 points. Alcantara added that his team just stood back after that opening goal and decided to save their energies ahead of the all important
clash against their arch-rivals, Real Madrid.
Barcelona and Madrid are due to lock horns on Tuesday, May 3 at Camp Nou for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final. Pep Guardiola’s side are leading the tie by a 2-0 margin after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 earned a vital two-away goals' advantage for
the Catalan Giants in the first leg.
The 20-year-old registered his name on the score sheet after Xavi’s ball for Messi fell for Thiago and he netted in his shot deflected off the bar on the 29thminute mark. Barcelona decided to sit back and protect that one goal lead, but found
themselves behind after Diego Ifran in the 71st minute and Xabi Prieto in the 82nd minute sealed a surprising victory for the white-blue.
The Catalan youngster concluded by saying, “The goal is just a side story, the important thing was to win. We were up against a team who were fighting to avoid the drop and in the second-half we came out too relaxed and without the attention needed. We leave
feeling hurt about the defeat. We couldn’t do it.”
Barcelona are currently topping the La Liga table with 88 points and still have four games that are left to be played before they could actually put their hands on the trophy.
