Barcelona President Sandro Rosell prefers to stick with Josep Guardiola
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 President Sandro Rosell believes that Josep Guardiola is a better manager than Jose Mourinho.
Rosell’s comments come in the wake of Diego Maradona’s claims that he would pick Mourinho over the current Barcelona boss any day.
The debate as to who is the better coach has been raging on ever since Jose Mourinho became the manager of Real Madrid in the summer of 2010. The achievements of both men are remarkable, and many find it difficult to pick between the two. Both Guardiola
and Mourinho have earned their place in football history by leading their respective clubs to heights which previously seemed unattainable.
However, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell claims that he would choose Guardiola over Jose Mourinho any day. Rosell believes that Guardiola has an emotional attachment to the Catalans, which fuels his desire to lead the Spanish giants to greater heights,
while Mourinho’s loyalties with Real Madrid are merely contractual.
Rosell said, “Pep represents Barca sentimentally, while Mourinho only represents Madrid professionally. And Mourinho is a lot more expensive than Pep. Every day that goes by, I like our model more, and I like it even better with Pep. We are delighted to
have him here.”
Guardiola guided Barcelona to a phenomenal sextuplet from 2009 to 2010, while Mourinho created history in Italy by leading http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan to the treble of the Champions League, Serie A, and Coppa Italia crowns. That achievement was preceded by hugely successful
spells at Porto and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
Mourinho has yet another notch in his belt though. The enigmatic Portuguese won the FIFA World Coach of the Year award 2010, a prize for which Guardiola was also nominated.
Pep Guardiola has recently singed a one-year extension with Barcelona. However, he has made no secret of his desire to leave the Catalan club one day. Guardiola has already expressed an interest in coaching a Premier League side. Though he is committed to
Barcelona for one more year, we may see him in the dugout of one of England’s biggest clubs in future.
