Barcelona boss hails Jose Mourinho - Part 1
There are very few rivalries in football - For the English club Manchester United, it is the Merseyside club Liverpool as both of them have won the same amount of English League titles. In the Italian Serie A, who doesn’t know about the city rivals AC Milan
and Inter Milan, who play in the same home ground, the San Siro. There are other rivalries as well and they include the Spanish rivalry between Real Madrid and the Catalan side Barcelona.
These two clubs simply hate each other and this is not because of the style of play or because they are in the same country or even because they have the same amount of titles; their rivalry is basically based on the history. Barcelona are a side that belong
to Catalonia and in the past they have experienced difficulties as the government was totally against them when General Franco came to the charge in Spain.
As the days passed, the difference between the two teams grew. Barcelona started to win more league seasons and became the only team that could come close to giving a tough time to Los Blancos. The Catalan giants even went through an era when their legend
Joan Cryuff made his “dream team” and won everything that the team could win.
The Spanish giants, Real Madrid on the other hand, made their own Galacticos in which they had the best players in the world. The “Los Blancos” achieved everything that they could including the European title, which they actually won 9 times in total; a
record that is still not beaten by any team. The only team that came close to this number is the Italian side AC Milan who have won the title 7 times.
In the year 2008, Barcelona were a side that were simply unbeatable. Whether it be their local competitions, the European competition or the Club World Cup, the Catalan giants accomplished it all. Under their new coach Josep Pep Guardiola, Barcelona won
all the six competitions that they were a part of and the Spanish coach became a big sensation in the world of football.
With Guardiola being an amazing coach with his former club, Barcelona, Jose Mourinho was one who was making his name as well. By winning the UEFA Champions League with a team like Porto, and then helping out the English Premier League side Chelsea, the Portuguese
tactician became a sensational manager. Mourinho later on became a part of the Italian giants Inter Milan and helped them win the European title after four and a half decades.
Now Mourinho is a part of the Spanish giants Real Madrid and he is currently managing them and helping them to achieve what they could not achieve for the past two seasons in the Spanish La Liga and for the past seven years in the UEFA Champions League.
The last time the Los Blancos won the local league was two years ago, before Barcelona started to shine with their home grown players and they qualified for the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League seven years ago; the nine times European Cup winners
have been totally down in the competition which they have a record of winning the most times.
Guardiola is now going to be a direct rival to Jose Mourinho and there are definitely going to be problems when these two collide. However, it is the Spanish coach and the manager of Barcelona, Josep Pep Guardiola who has praised Jose Mourinho in his latest
press conference and rated him as “one of the best coaches in the world.”
