Barcelona boss hails Jose Mourinho
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has spoken of his admiration for Jose Mourinho, hailing the Real Madrid boss as "probably the best manager in the world."
Mourinho has earned plaudits for his successes with Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan. He has won several league and domestic cup titles and won the UEFA Champions League with both Porto and Inter.
In search of a new challenge, he moved to Madrid in the summer where he has already made an impact by leading Los Blancos to an undefeated start to the season.
Guardiola was holding a press conference ahead of his side’s Copa del Rey match against AD Ceuta on Tuesday, 26 October, when he was asked for his views on Mourinho and the team he is putting together
at the Bernebau.
'We hope to keep up with Madrid'
The Barcelona boss told reporters that: “He is probably the best coach in the world. It is often difficult to decide in these cases who is the best, but his career in several countries is immaculate. Real
Madrid have a great team, and I knew that the league this season would be competitive from the very first game. We hope to keep up.”
Guardiola then turned the focus towards his side’s upcoming cup match. Though Ceuta, who are based on the north coast of north coast of Africa, play in the Spanish third division, the coach urged his players
to be cautious and avoid an embarrassing result against the minnows.
He said that: “We must not get lazy. I have great confidence in the team, and we are eager to compete. There are players in the squad with a perfect profile for this game. We need fresh legs and there
are players who are accustomed to playing matches in the Segunda B and below. It may not be an important game for them, but it is a dangerous game for us.”
