Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Gareth Bale’s agent has confirmed that his client is currently not in talks with La Liga giants Barcelona.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-c18993 Barnett did reveal it was a bit of a problem that Tottenham Hotspur had not managed to make it to the UEFA Champions League. He felt it could trigger the 22-year-old to ask for a move away from White Hart Lane in the summer transfer window.
Though, it was not certain as to whether the club he would join would be Barcelona since the Catalan side were most likely unable to afford his transfer fee. Tottenham Hotspur have valued their best player at 40 million pounds and it is highly unlikely Barcelona
will be willing to pay that much to sign Bale.
Barnett said in an interview:
“I think it's too expensive for the club. To my knowledge, the club [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604] has not made any offer for him.
If interested, they would have to put money on the table and then start talking. But it seems that the club is working on the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-Alba-c19111, a cheaper option.”
While he is not known for his goal-scoring abilities, Bale made a name for himself in the UEFA Champions League for the Spurs in the 2010-2011 season. He performed exceptionally well against the likes of AC Milan and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
He has made a total of 160 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions since he joined in 2007 and has scored 29 goals. The left back c*m winger has attracted a lot of interest since the Spurs participation in the 2010-2011 Champions League.
However, it seems highly unlikely that his dream move to Barcelona can be completed any time soon, mainly because they are unable to afford the transfer fee. Barnett revealed that the other European sides interested in his client’s signature had to make
the right offer if they wished to secure his services.
He revealed:
“Yes, it is clear that this is a problem. The big European clubs already know how much it would take to do the operation and therefore if you are interested you know what kind of offer has to put on the table.”
