Barcelona continue their away win record
The Spanish Champions were to face their local city rivals Espanyol in a derby game. Both the sides were to face each other in a crucial match as the first placed team was to face a fourth placed side. Last season Espanyol were the side who managed to keep
Barcelona off their goal and restricted the final score line to a goalless draw. However, last season Espanyol were not in such a great form but this time round they were a threat in their home ground Cornella-El Prat.
For the past seven games Espanyol were unbeaten at home and it was definitely a tough tie for Josep Guardiola’s men. The win in Pamplona last weekend marked the Spanish side’s best start in the Spanish La Liga. However, after winning the game against their
local city rivals, the Spanish Champions stretched their record to ten away wins. Now Barcelona have won all the ten games away from home.
The run began after Barcelona won the game in El Madrigal. The Catalan Giants shook off the pressure that was pressed upon them by Real Madrid. Josep Guardiola’s side won the game 1-4 while being away from home. Later, the Spanish Champions were to visit
Sanchez Pijuan to play against Sevilla and won the game 2-3 to virtually ensure another Spanish La Liga title.
Later, that form continued this season as the season began with an away game win. Racing were the first side that faced Barcelona’s wrath as the Catalan Giants won the game 0-3. Later, the Catalonia side faced the Madrid team Atletico Madrid and won the
game 1-2 as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 found himself on the injury list. Later, Barcelona faced Atletic Bilbao and won the game 1-3.
The biggest away win was recorded the very next week after the Atletic Bilbao clash. Josep Guardiola’s men were able to go on level terms with Helenio Herrera’s team of 1959. Barcelona won the game 0-8 against Almeria to record the highest away win in the
history of the Spanish La Liga. Later, the Catalan Giants faced Osasuna and defeated them 0-3 and last weekend they won 1-5, conceding the first goal after Atletic Bilbao’s game.
With Barcelona winning all the away games, this has helped them win seven more points than their closest rivals, Real Madrid. However, they are just two points behind Barcelona after beating Sevilla in Santiago Bernabeu which means that these two teams are
still in for the title race.
During those ten away fixtures, Barcelona have scored an outstanding 36 number of goals. They have only conceded seven during these games which makes it a 29 goal lead. Lionel Messi has found the back of the net 11 times while being away from home. Pedro
Rodriguez has scored 6, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629 has scored 4 while Bojan has found the net 4 times as well even though the Spanish youngster came off the bench. These four strikers have scored 25 of those 36 goals. During these ten games, the defence had a lot to do as
well as Victor Valdes did not concede any goals for four away games.
