At the interval, Mallorca came back to the game with determination. Their change of attitude in the second-half paid off as they managed to get two goals in quick succession.
However, any chances for fight back from the Islanders were put to bed when Messi scored his second goal of the night with just 20 minutes left to play on the clock.
Good news for the Catalans was that their centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique, was in the line-up for the first time in two months after recovering from injury.
Pique was pleased with his return to action and has also commented on the match.
“I felt really good. If you don't play for a long time then you always have some doubts about your fitness.”
“We had a difficult period in the second half, but overall we controlled the match.”
Meanwhile, Real Mallorca coach, Joaquin Caparros, has shared his thoughts on the match and admitted that his side was poor in the first-half.
“We were really poor in the first half. We had no confidence on the ball, and lost possession an awful lot.”
Barcelona are still on top of the table and have maintained their lead of eight points over their bitter rivals, Real Madrid.
