Barcelona defender Gerard Pique wants Catalans to sign Giuseppe Rossi: La Liga News
Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique desperately wants his team to sign Villarreal striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giuseppe-Rossi-c15027 from under the noses of Barclays Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is a huge admirer of Rossi and is weighing up a summer move for the striker. Pique was Rossi’s team-mate when the duo used to play for Manchester United in the early years of their careers. However, both of them left Old Trafford due to a lack of first team opportunities.
Rossi has scored 27 goals in 46 appearances for the yellow submarines in the current 2010-11 season and has attracted a lot of suitors with his attractive style of play. Despite signing a new contract with the club, the former Manchester United striker has not ruled out a summer move.
Pique is impressed with Rossi’s style of play and believes that it is quite similar to the way they play at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604. The defender said that his club should move quickly to sign the striker.
Pique told reporters, “Ah, Giuseppe… I hope that the rumour [he is coming to Barcelona] is true because he is not only a friend from my time in Manchester, but a striker of absolute quality. He knows how to do everything well. He has an assassin-like left-foot and a lot of goals in his feet."

The Barcelona defender added, “Today Rossi is one of the opponents who makes me suffer the most because he is little, quick and technical. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786) is an outstanding player, but give me him to defend any day. Giuseppe is slippery - a second is all it takes to lose him. How I'd like to have him on my side again…”
It is highly unlikely that Villarreal would let their prized asset go easily and would ask suitors to pay more than 30 million pounds to acquire his services. However, during his sale to the Spanish side, Manchester United placed a clause in his contract according to which they would have the first right to purchase the player if Villarreal plan to sell him.
