In their bid to replace Eric Abidal, the Catalan club have lined up Schalke 04’s Christian Fuchs and Granada’s Guilherme Siqueira in addition to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordi-Alba-c19111.
As Eric Abidal goes under the knife for the second year running, in order to overcome his liver tumour problems, there is a distinct possibility that the French stalwart will not take the pitch again.
In the wake of these developments, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 have started their hunt for an able replacement. It has been reported that Valencia’s Spanish international, Jordi Alba, is fancied by the Catalan giants.
However, with interest from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 developing in the services of Los Che academy graduate, La Blaugrana have lined up other candidates to add to their roster over the summer.
The much-travelled Brazilian left-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guilherme-Siqueira-c15321, now plying his trade at Granada, has caught the attention of Barcelona sporting staff, with his performance in their 5-3 loss at the Camp Nou adding to his admirers.
La Blaugrana are also reported to be keeping tabs on Schalke defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Fuchs-c9078, who has been sensational for the Gelsenkirchen since joining from Mainz at the start of 2011/12 season.
The attack-minded left-back has given a good account of his abilities in the Blue jersey and can be on the move again in the summer.
Reflecting on the interest, Fuchs agent, Thomas Bohm, stated that it was flattering to be linked with the reigning European champions but believes they cannot give in too much to rumours.
"I've heard nothing and I cannot imagine [it's true]."
"But it says a lot about Christian's strengths that he is being mentioned in a major newspaper from Barcelona as a candidate [to succeed Abidal]."
Abidal is set to undergo surgery on Monday, March 26th, as the Camp Nou-based outfit busy themselves in making up a list of replacements.
The 32-year-old will be operated for the liver transplant after successfully having the tumour removed last year.
It has been revealed that a childhood friend of Abidal will donate a part of his liver for the ailing defender. However, irrespective of the success of the procedure, it cannot be made certain if the French international will ever grace the footballing
field again.
