The Red Devils played free flowing attacking football to down the Blues and edge closer to winning their 19th league title. United remain within touching distance of the record and only one point from the remaining two matches will make history
for them.
For their part, Guardiola’s team beat Espanyol 2-0 to edge closer to La Liga title. Manchester United and Barcelona will lock horns in the final of the UEFA Champions League at the Wembley Stadium on May 28, 2011. Both teams are challenging for a double
and one of the two teams would end up wining the European and Domestic double.
Guardiola revealed that he is wary of United’s squad strength and the quality of players they possess. The former Barcelona midfielder watched United’s second-leg semi-final clash against Schalke ’04 from the stands and was amazed by the display from their
reserves team, who won 4-1 on the night.
Talking to the reporters, Guardiola said, "They played a Champions League semi-final (second leg against Schalke) with a team full of reserves and they won 4-1 - that says everything you need to know about the quality they have. They have a great squad with
two great teams and extraordinary players."
The 40-year-old has urged his side to maintain their focus on the league, as it is still an unfinished business and they require a point to win it.
"We will try to wrap up the league and then we'll think about the final. We're almost there and we want to win it as soon as possible, so we can have our heads focused on Wembley stadium.” added the manager
The two sides met in the final of the 2008/09 Champions League and the Catalans emerged victorious by a 2-0 score line. Guardiola believes that United are now a different team from what they were two years back, and the final will be more interesting and
competitive this time around.
